New Farmers’ Market for Springville

Springville Tap ‘n’  Grill is hosting a new farmer’s market in the area which organizers are calling “From Our Hands to Yours”.

Scheduled to open on Mother’s Day, there are twelve planned dates for this market, all of them on Fridays and Sundays.  The dates have been carefully selected to avoid conflicting with the existing Millbrook Farmers’ Market dates.  The intention is to provide vendors additional options for local sales and customers more frequent access to the vendors they appreciate. The location, at the intersection of County Rd. 28 and Brown Line, is on a popular cottage route.  This target market also influenced the dates: visitors can pick up their favourite products on their way to and from their weekend destinations.

Organizers are now looking for vendors.  They would like to attract local farmers, growers, producers, artisans, crafters and hobbyists for this market and are particularly eager to support small businesses looking for new outlets to sell their goods.  The goal is to support vendors offering quality items to give them a chance for more sales.

They are also seeking musicians to entertain visitors and vendors at the venue and hope to provide new artists with an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Vendors need not commit to every market date, but can select the dates that work best for them.  Those interested in operating a booth can apply on the group’s Facebook site by searching www.facebook.com/springvillemarketoncanada.  Organizers are also seeking sponsors, who will be recognized at the events, on social media activity and in advertisements for the market.

For organizer Sherri Soucie, this market is personal: part of the motivation is to provide her son who is on the autism spectrum with a tangible and meaningful project.  He designer the market logo and creates gemstone bracelets, which will be available for sale at this venue.  She hopes to encourage the participation of others who are dealing with challenges to show their artistic ability and offer opportunities that could help them develop job skills that might help them find future employment.
