CMCC Project Fundraising Total Tops $830,000

Thanks to the a generous personal donation of $500,000 by local area developer Mario Cortellucci last month, the current fundraising commitment of the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre (CMCC) is approaching its $1 million goal.

Scheduled to open in the fall of this year, the Township’s new 43,000+ square foot multi-use facility will feature an NHL size ice surface, a community hall, a studio room, and a walking/running track.  In addition to this facility, there will be an outdoor playground and room for the development of other recreational elements on the 10 acre site.

“As a family man and someone who develops residential and commercial properties for healthy communities, I have always striven to take part in and help support the creation of complete communities where families can easily and happily grow” says Mr. Cortellucci.  “Neighbourhoods are more than just a group of buildings; they are the people that gather within them.  When we have access to recreation, green space, shopping and services that bring us together as a community, we all prosper.”

According to Matt Graham, Co- Chair of the CMCC Project, “This is an overwhelming show of support for the efforts of our fundraising committee.   The $1 million was a huge fundraising goal for a small group of volunteers in a community our size, but this donation brings this goal within reach.”

According to Graham, there are only a few sponsorship opportunities still available, and welcomes donations of any size.  All donations of $20 or more are eligible for a charitable receipt.  Donations of $1000 or more will be permanently recognized on a donor wall inside the facility.  For more information, contact thecmccproject@gmail.com or visit the township office.
