Cupcakes for Cancer

By Newspaper club member Mariza S.

On April 16, as part of Me to We’s contribution to the Cops for Cancer fundraiser, we raised money by selling cupcakes! Almost all of Me to We’s student members brought in cupcakes, and they looked stunning! Even the staff helped out and brought in their share. The cupcakes were sold for one dollar each, and they were a hit! All of the cupcakes were delicious, and going towards a great cause, which made the deal even more sweet. Overall, this event was so much fun, and going towards an incredible cause.

By Newspaper club member Ava R.

The week of May 6th is the week Millbrook South Cavan comes alive. We’ve got things from Fun Fair, Pedal for Hope, Cake walk all the way to the moon and back. Many activities and fundraising opportunities are available for Millbrook students and staff.  A Fun Fair on the night of the May 10th (5-7) where families can come and do many things such as jump your heart out on the bouncy castle; enjoy food and beverages provided by the local lions club; enter to win a basket raffle; play family games and the best of all a sweet treat of cotton candy all for just a small fee.

Pedal for Hope also takes place May 10th (approx. 11:00 a.m.) at school for students and staff.  Pedal for Hope cyclists raise money for Cancer by biking between schools. They bring lots of fun to celebrate the money raised by students. Students get to enjoy funny music sessions that may or may not include beach balls…..Last but not least our toonie toss takes place all week during nutritional breaks. Bring a toonie for a chance toss and depending on which side it is lands on depends on which prize they will win…… and the best part of all it all goes towards Pedal for Hope! Wow, is MIllbrook South Cavan is busy this week that’s for sure.

The Magic of Marc Tardif

By Newspaper club members Sierra and Maia

Madame Falkenberg signed up for a fund of $1000, for a French activity having to do with ethnocultural, francophone, and aboriginal Canadians. Out of 122 grants throughout all of Canada, Madame Falkenberg received 1 of them. She is putting the money towards a magic show called The Magic of Living to The Max. To get ready, we made projects on either ethnocultural, francophone, or aboriginal Canadians who are famous. We were excited for his upcoming visit to our school and enjoyed it very much. He came April the 3rd and we had a great time with him here in Millbrook. Some students even got to be part of the act. There were lots of card tricks, some involving his 50-year-old dove and goldfish. There were other tricks that taught us about living to the max. It was all very inspiring, and we gained a lot of trust in ourselves. Thank you, Marc.
