OLG Makes First Quarter Payments to Local Municipal Governments

Last month, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) provided first-quarter (April 1 to June 30, 2019) non-tax gaming revenue payments of $132,375 to the Township of Cavan Monaghan for hosting Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs, and a further $837,838 to the City of Peterborough for hosting Shorelines Casino Peterborough.

This payment brings the total received by the township to more than $60 million over the past 20 years, with Peterborough’s take exceeding $2 million since October 2018.

Local MPPs Laurie Scott and Dave Smith applaud OLG for having established tremendous partnerships with host municipalities and the revenue generated at these local gaming sites is helping to improve the quality of life for individuals and families right across the province.  Funds are invested in projects including local infrastructure, community programs and services and roads.

These payments are calculated following an equitable formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that determines the funds municipalities receive for hosting a gaming facility and are based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue that is consistent across all sites in Ontario.  OLG provides the Ontario government with its largest source of non-tax revenue from Government Business Enterprises. In 2017-2018, this amounted to $2.49 billion. KG
