Memorial Tree Recognizes Courageous Hockey Mom

In 2022 Joshua Palewandrem joined the Millbrook Stars U15 hockey team, while his Mom Brenda was in the midst of fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Brenda never missed coming to a game and cheering on the team. Once while travelling a great distance to a tournament, she became stuck in her truck on the 401 for hours in a snowstorm with four hockey boys she was taking back to her house for a celebration of their win. Brenda was the ultimate hockey Mom and was nominated as Captain of the Parents by the team. Brenda’s passing deeply impacted the team, the kids, coaches, parents. In honor of Brenda, a collection was gathered by the team to plant a tree in her memory, providing a place to sit, reflect and remember our Captain Brenda. A very special thank you goes out to the Millbrook Community Garden for providing us with such a beautiful space- in the garden next to a bench, and for including Brenda’s family and friends in the planting of the tree. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day to plant our memorial Tulip tree in true honor of Brenda.
