Neal Cathcart
My name is Neal Cathcart. I was born and raised in this great township. My life has been that as a resident farmer and my involvement in local politics. I have served this municipality in all three positions and represented this township at the County of Peterborough level, being their warden in 2006.
My accomplishments as Reeve (Mayor) included the introduction of Slots at Kawartha Downs, Centennial Place, Millbrook and the moving of the existing township offices to the present location and the sale of the old municipal offices to Nexicom, our good corporate citizen.
I will be a strong voice when the issue of annexation and regional government arises, work to keep horse racing at Kawartha Downs and consult with the Ontario government with regards to the intended use of the correctional centre property.
I also intend to promote the Millbrook BIA with tax incentive programs when making improvements to property and as a township create more parking and parkland in the Millpond area.
With ongoing changes in the townships official plan and zoning bylaws, property owners need be individually advised on those changes when it reflects on their property and their values.
I will hold the line on substantial tax increases while trying to realize better financial management for our infrastructure and capitol expenses when it pertains to winter fleet upgrades.
