Growing up here, I have always loved the rural way of life that our Township has to offer; its natural beauty of the rolling hills, the friendliness and support your neighbors are quick to offer and the space to explore, grow up and breathe.
Through my involvement with the Community Centre fundraising effort over the past year I have met many people who are working hard on behalf of their neighbours. They have inspired me to do more for our community and run for Council.
The role of Deputy Mayor is an important one, and I am in no way taking that for granted. Our ability to work with Peterborough County is going to be critical as our Township grows, and I have been meeting with other municipal and County representatives to better understand current issues of urban planning, job creation, health services and development in our Township.
As Deputy Mayor, I will prioritize fiscal responsibility and transparency. A small first step towards increasing participation in local politics is to hold some Council meetings after business hours. Job creation will help young people remain here and more housing options for seniors will allow our residents to grow old in the community they love. Health care priorities include new doctor recruitment and addressing ambulance service shortages.
I came back to make this community part of my future. I am hoping that by representing you as Deputy Mayor, I can give back and help the future of this community.
