Christmas in the Village 2019

By Newspaper club member Maia McLean, Grade 7

On December 5th, we had our annual village Christmas get together in downtown Millbrook. There were sleigh rides, a gingerbread house competition, crafts, hot chocolate, popcorn, vendors, Santa Claus and a magic show! Lots of students from our school were there to enjoy the fun of the night. Mrs. Wilma Armstrong, a teacher from our school, was doing the famous Millbookian reindeer antlers with a few student volunteers from our school. Children all around the village could be seen with some homemade reindeer antlers and little red noses. We enjoyed the night, and maybe we will see you next year for Christmas in the village 2020!

Intermediate Girls Recreational Volleyball Tournament

By Newspaper club member Sierra H, Grade 7

On November 28th, the Intermediate Girls Recreational Volleyball team went to Adam Scott to compete in  the tournament. Mrs. Fallis helped lead the team to four victories against some of the best teams there.  Those teams included James Strath, Westmount, Northshore, and one other team. The girls played nine games in total with five unfortunate losses. The first five games were losses, but the sixth game they played against James Strath and won. The three games after that were wins, winning against one of the best teams there gave the team more drive and spirit. Although they did win four games, that was not what the team was focused on, they went to have fun playing volleyball. They tried their hardest, and once they had more communication between the team members, they started to show improvement. They always encouraged each other throughout the games and congratulated each other again after each game was over. They played amazingly and had lots of fun. The team left Adam Scott after having a great day, and in a good mood. Go Hawks!

Grade 8 Boston Pizza Fundraiser

By Newspaper club member Hunter H., Grade 7

Millbrook successfully served customers at Boston Pizza on the evening of December 6th and December 12th. Grade 8’s were offered the opportunity to participate in Boston Pizza visits to fundraise for their future Grad trip. The trip they are taking part in will be a three-night and four-day trip to Old Montreal. This fundraiser also provided the Millbrook Grade 8 students with opportunities to work in the real world and to know how having a job feels and looks. The Millbrook students who participated in the event received ten percent of each bill from customers they helped to serve. Thank you to all who came out to support this fundraiser!
