Patti Dell’Osso welcomes clients looking for ways to relax.

As the daughter of an evangelical minister, Patti Dell’Osso is well acquainted with the concept of faith.

She practices it in her daily life, just not in the way she was taught as a child.  Through her Reiki practise, she has found a spirituality that is calming and healing and is passionate about sharing her experience and expertise through Body and Soul Wellness.

For many years she had a traditional job in Toronto, but after a serious health issue, she decided that big changes were required.  Healthier choices and an introduction to Reiki helped her find a path on a healing journey.  The transformation in her life was so powerful that she is eager to share it with others.

Reiki is a spiritual practice and the term is based on the Japanese term for the universal life force energy flowing through all living things. It is an alternative medicine practise based on the Eastern medicine belief that living things have energy fields that support their health and vitality. As a Certified Reiki Master Teacher through the Canadian Reiki Association, Patti offers Reiki sessions out of her studio in her home in Millbrook.  Sessions last approximately one hour, and during these meetings Patti follows a sequence of hand positions over different parts of the body in order to spark an exchange of energy through the palms of the practitioner.  There is no manipulation and usually no physical contact between the client and the Reiki practitioner.  The objective of these sessions is to identify and relieve energy blocks.  Most clients describe the experience as providing a deep sense of relaxation and over all sense of well-being.

The underlying concept behind the practice is a rebalancing or unblocking of energy in the body.  What does that mean?  Based on an ancient concept in Hindu religious texts, there are seven chakras or energy centres in the body.  They are usually depicted as seven colours in a rainbow arch floating above someone seated cross-legged, rising from the base of the pelvis to the crown of the head.  Chakras represent parts of the body in which physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy reside.

The energy transmitted through the practitioner is designed to remove physical, mental, emotional and spiritual issues lodged in the Chakras.  In Reiki practise, by unlocking or rebalancing these energy centres, limiting or painful thoughts, memories or trauma are released, making room for new energy to flow.  The result is a new positive attitude that is receptive to change.  This can also occur through yoga poses, breathing exercises or meditation.

Patti’s clients arrive with feelings of being overwhelmed by their circumstances, facing illness, pain, grief or anxiety.  Her studio is a safe place where they find positive, healing energy that helps them restore their sense of calm and well-being.

At Body and Soul Wellness, clients can become students of the practise and Patti is a certified Reiki teacher as well as practitioner.

There are many ways to address the growing stress levels that seem to be inherent in modern life.  A Reiki session might be a new, low risk alternative approach to finding a healthier mind and body.  For more information on this local clinic, visit www.bodyandsoulwellness.ca. KG
