Honour Our Veterans’ Banner Program

In October 2022, The Millbrook Times reported an initiative by the Royal Canadian Legion Millbrook, Branch 402, in partnership with Cavan Monaghan Township and the local BIA, to implement an Honour Our Veterans banner program.

The banners will be displayed throughout the Millbrook downtown area and engages the community in honouring and remembering local veterans to ensure continued recognition and respect throughout future generations. These banners put faces to veterans who have served or are currently serving in the Canadian, Allied or Commonwealth Forces and have a tie to the area.

Currently, the Legion has several banners ordered by local sponsors and has also ordered a banner themselves for the Unknown Soldier. Cavan Monaghan Township has kindly budgeted funds to purchase the hardware required to display the banners and, working in conjunction with the local BIA’s plans and projects in the downtown, will install them annually approximately the third week of September during Legion Week. The banners will be displayed until shortly after Remembrance Day, November 11, 2023.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a banner can access applications on the Legion website at www.millbrooklegion.com or on the Township website at www.cavanmonaghan.net/legionbannerprogram.  The deadline for applications is June 1, 2023!
