Participating in a sack race on Sunday, September 8th, this was one of the many children who participated in races that were popular 200 years ago. The purpose of the children’s race day was to celebrate the 200 years St. John’s Anglican congregation has worshiped on top of the hill.  The other games included egg race, three legged race, wheelbarrow race and of course the ever popular water bag toss. For the non-competitive individuals there were; bouncy castle, hula hoops, bean bag toss and hot dogs.  Reverend Peter Mills also joined the fun, with Don Winslow as his leg man during the wheelbarrow race. New worshipers always welcome to join St John’s Anglican Church in Ida, every Sunday at 9.30 am. Free parking with coffee and snacks served after the service. Next race day will be in 2119; to celebrate 300 years of service.  To prepare for the 2119 races, people are invited to St John’s every Thursday at 9.30 a.m. to a VON exercise program.  Walk-ins are welcome. Bring comfortable clothing.
