Members of the Millbrook Community Choir meet weekly at Centennial Place where they prepare for musical performances at concerts and local events including next week’s Christmas in the Village.

You won’t have to wait until their December 10th concert to hear some of the Christmas repertoire the Millbrook Community Choir is preparing this season.

Members of the choir will lead a parade of participants to the events of Christmas in the Village on December 7th, following one of the horse-drawn wagons into town to see the sparkle as the Christmas tree in front of the Legion is lit up to the sound of Christmas carols.  To join the procession, meet them at 5:45 at the north parking lot of Millbrook South Cavan School, and bring your flashlights, lanterns and best singing voices to up the magical atmosphere.  After the tree-lighting ceremony, choir members will continue their seasonal serenade along the streets of town to heighten the festive feel of the evening.   The following Sunday the full complement of singers will present their annual Christmas concert at 2pm at the Millbrook Christian Assembly.

In its 27th year, this club draws its 40 members from across Peterborough County.  According to the club’s current President Paul Andrews, singers are drawn to the club by the musical leadership provided by Mark and Justin Hiscox.  Both talented musicians in their own right, these brothers bring their professional gifts along with a giant dose of fun to every rehearsal, and their diversity of interests and musical inspirations reflects in the repertoire selected for the choir each year.  Mark is the conductor of the choir while Justin provides musical accompaniment and vocals.  Both are well known locally for their contribution to the 4th Line Theatre productions, where Justin is the musical director and composes much of the original music for the theatre company, and Mark performs as a musician and actor.  They are also involved in many musical and theatrical groups around Peterborough.

Join the Choir as they march into town for Christmas in the Village or attend their Christmas concert to see and hear the sounds of the season.  KG
