On May 1st, the Volunteer Firefighters’ Association recognized the outstanding service of three of their members. Tom Armstrong, celebrated 40 years to the very day on Monday, while Orville Thertell, has been a member for 31 years, and Dave Auchterlonie a mere 30 years. This group not only come to our rescue when we are facing emergencies such as fire or car accidents, they also sup- port the community by hosting events such as Touch a Truck in partnership with the Millbrook Agricultural Society and help the Decorating Committee by putting up the Christmas tree in the village. Their extensive fundraising activities support local organizations and individuals in need, and they maintain the Firefighting Museum on Hay Street, bringing out the antique fire truck for parades and other special events.
