Last month, sixteen families joined residents at Centennial Place for a Teddy Bears’ Picnic organized by the Millbrook EarlyON Child and Family Centre. This organization has been looking for ways to host intergenerational activities to connect their young clients with older generations in the community. Prior to the pandemic, Centennial Place hosted a weekly Music and Movement program held in the common room allowing residents to watch youngsters at play.
This date was weather- and smoke- dependent and conditions allowed it to proceed on June 15th the front lawn of the facility. Forty visitors brought food and drink and their favourite teddy bear to enjoy a picnic together on the lawn. Freezies and sandwiches were provided by the facility complemented by fruit supplied by the family centre. There were games, bubbles, smiles and new friends. The event was so well received that organizers plan to hold monthly events as long as weather permits. The next one is scheduled for July 20th and with a strawberry social theme. KG
