Summer Osborne grew up in a large family in the City of Kawartha Lakes, where she returned after completing a business degree from Algonquin College in Ottawa specializing in marketing. She migrated to the Muskoka area after graduation, where her natural interest and ability led her to help family and friends working primarily for local businesses in Muskoka. When COVID hit, she shifted gears, came back to the area and launched her business as a full-time venture under the name Sunny Skyes.
Since her services are provided virtually, her customers come from across the country. She builds her clientele through her networks. Whether she meets them on a volunteer committee, through a personal reference from another customer or tracks them down through postings on job sites such as Indeed, all seem to appreciate her marketing and tech savvy. Her clients come from a diverse range of businesses, from contractors, real estate professionals, designers and retail owners. Traditional marketing tools such as market segmentation and brand development are complimented by her expertise in the application of digital marketing tools, which are combined to help her customers maximize the impact of their marketing efforts in their target markets. Throw in her web design, social media management and performance monitoring, and Summer offers full-service marketing support.
A few months ago, she extended her product offerings to include a variety of on-line courses designed to educate customers in some key marketing issues. Courses range from three hours to four days in length, and cover topics such as establishing a social marketing presence, using online store platforms such as Shopify and Amazon, or designing a website. So far, the courses are taking the place of in-house corporate training programs, but she hopes to attract individuals who wish to develop their marketing expertise.
