Escape Maze!

by Newspaper club member Kailah

If you were in grade 4, 5 or 6 you would have gone to escape maze with the school.

Imagine a corn field but it’s not. It’s a whole bunch of paths that go to different stations. You even go into the forest.

It’s like a scavenger hunt with a pioneer theme. You have a journal, compass, map and a book full of locks you have to unlock. There are 6 locks in total. At the start, a timer is set and put it into a locked box. You are given a code to unlock the box at the end. There are people who walk around and help you. It’s very fun but hard. It took my group 2 hours 30 minutes and 1.2 seconds to complete the task.

Escape maze is a family friendly place where you and your family could visit.

We Scare Hunger Campaign

by Newspaper club member Ava R.

Kraft dinner canned goods and pasta …. these are all things that can be donated to this year’s We Scare Hunger campaign. As you may know, Me to We does this every year. The members of the Me to We group from Millbrook South Cavan school notify some of their neighbours a few days in advance of Hallowe’en to let them know what we are doing and why, either verbally or by leaving a note to inform them of We Scare Hunger campaign.  The choice is up to them. You are probably wondering where all the donated food is going. Well I can answer that, it’s getting collected and taken down to the Millbrook Food Share, where food items will be placed on shelves to be ready for the Christmas season! Me to We would like to thank all neighbours and family members who participated in this year’s MSC We Scare Hunger campaign!

Terry Fox Run 2018

By Newspaper club member Ryan P.

Hey there! Yeah, have you heard that the Terry Fox run was on September 26, 2018.

Yes! On Wednesday September 26, 2018 the whole school ran, jogged, or walked around Brookside Street. This year we went around Brookside Street instead of staying in our school boundaries.

Some Me to We members walked with the younger kids in JK, SK, Grades one and two.  Everybody did an amazing job being mature about Terry Fox’s legacy and made our school proud.   We raised approximately $638 for the cause.

Thank you all for participation and see you on the streets!

Hallowe’en Dance

by Newspaper club member Sierra H.

As usual the school dance is for grades six to eight and the theme is Hallowe’en of course.  Hallowe’en is the big holiday of October.  Even though we also have Thanksgiving, some people look forward to Hallowe’en even more. There are lots of dances for these three senior grades during the year, but this one is exciting for the Me to We club because it is their first dance and they always set up decorations, food, music, and much more.   I hope that kids are thanking the Me to We club for all their organizing.  This is the first real dance for grade six students.  As a grade six student, this is my first dance and I think it will be fun. If kids don’t want to go to the dance, then they can go to Mrs. Noble’s room also known as the game room while the dance is taking place.

QSP Magazine Fundraiser

by Newspaper club member Maia M.

This year, yet again, MSC students did the QSP magazine fundraiser. This fundraiser makes our school the most money and it is the biggest of the year. We sold magazines to our friends and family over Thanksgiving to raise money for our school.  A difference this year is that MSC students also sold cookie dough and tumblers.  You can also buy magazines throughout the year, but this is the main time. Raising money for our school is important because we raise money to pay for grade eight graduation, Jimmy Chapman breakdancing lessons, technology, and new forest of reading books for our library and much more. We are going to enjoy our magazines, cookies, and tumblers while also enjoying the new things we may get! Thank you for supporting our school and community.

Drama Club at Millbrook South Cavan Public School

by Newspaper club member Jocelyn B.

The drama club has way more people this year than last year. We are doing a play in January for the school and parents to see. Everyone is working hard to get ready for the play. This year the play is called ‘The Castaways’.  It has lots of songs in it. We have read through the play already and we are going to do some auditions for roles.  We have played some warm up games like “This is a watch”. To add to it all, you can even be a chorus member.
