Millbrook Lions Stage Fundraiser

Paul Hayne, John French, and Ray Porteous manned the trailer donated by Angela and Tony Lloyd for Saturday’s bottle drive at the Lions’ Den. After a month of collections at the Millbrook Farm and Pet Supply along with Saturday’s haul, the community has contributed approximately $6,000 to help Wyatt and his family offset the costs of travel to Sick Kids Hospital for treatment.

On Saturday, January 30th, the Millbrook and District Lions club came together for the first time in many months to raise money for a local teen named Wyatt.

A Crestwood student, he is fighting cancer for a second time, and bills pile up in a hurry.  Under the leadership of Lion John French, several members ran a bottle drive, continuing the work by Millbrook Farm and Pet Supply.

Tony and Angela Lloyd kindly donated the use of a large, enclosed trailer (pictured left) which was parked at the Lions’ Den on Saturday morning.  Citizens were encouraged to drop off their bottle returns at that location and/or make a cash donation towards Wyatt and his family.

Despite freezing temperatures, the great folks of Millbrook and Cavan came through in their usual, big-hearted way, donating $815 in cash along with a trailer full of empties.  Of great help to the Lions was Michelle Horner who sorted and packed the incoming returns.

The Millbrook and District Lion’s Club would like to thank everyone for the kindness and generosity.
