Get Involved in Your Local School

Pictured is Millbrook/South Cavan (MSC) School Council President Ann-Marie-Kelleher at last week’s Open House.  At last count, the school body is now 580 students, so it’s no surprise that the school could use some volunteer support.  One way to get involved is through the School Council.  You don’t have to have a child at the school to be part of this advisory body that provides ideas and input from the community to assist the Principal and Vice Principal in their leadership role supporting student success.  School Councils have two community member positions allowing interested residents the opportunity to represent the community at large on this committee.  Meetings of the MSC School Council are typically held on the first Monday of each month beginning at 6:30 pm.

Volunteers are also needed to support the school nutrition program, aka the Breakfast Club.  Nutritious snacks are prepared each day using supplied food items to support student learning. Anyone interested in either opportunity are invited to call the school at 705-932-2789 for more information.
