The 11th Cavan Hills Country Run, organized and executed by the St. John’s Anglican Outreach Committee, took place on Saturday September 26th.  About 175 enthusiastic walkers and runners registered for the 2015 event, which provides an opportunity for neighbours to fill their lungs with the crisp fall air and enjoy the enviable beauty of the Cavan countryside and of course, catch up on local gossip.

Noticeable to all, was one of the first maple trees (probably a swamp maple) located on the McCamus driveway, which had already transformed into a brilliant crimson red colour.

The 4.7km and 10km length walks and races began and ended at the McCamus farm located on the Stewart Line. The McCamus family generously provided the area for race headquarters.  The route of the run/walk race followed the township roads and trails across the neighbouring Winslow farm.

Cavan Hills Country Run was a family affair for some local neighbors. Front row from left, Emily Schad, Hannah Schad. Back row, Jack Workman, John Workman, Lori Gershon, Mark Schad.

Gallery Q, located at the cross roads in Cavan, very generously sponsored each runner who finished the race with a donation of $100.  Many other sponsors also helped to make the day a tremendous success including Tim Hortons’ whose donated coffee was accompanied by home baked goodies lovingly baked by congregational members…
