Telecare Peterborough is looking for empathetic individuals ready to join the fight against loneliness and isolation. Training for New Volunteers begins September 25th 2019, at 7:00 pm, Trinity United Church, 360 Reid St., Peterborough. Training is 50 hours and costs $50. (Subsidies are available.) Listening skills and awareness of social, emotional and psychological needs and resources are developed. Training includes interactive sessions and presentations by local community experts. Full Schedule and other information is online at www.telecarepeterborough.org or email info@telecarepeterborough.org. Pre-registration helpful, but not required.

Telecare Peterborough is a 24-hr. volunteer-run centre providing confidential, anonymous and caring listening to troubled, lonely, isolated and overwhelmed callers who want to share their stories. Telecare receives over 40 calls a day. Callers talk about loneliness, frustration, grief, loss, financial woes, relationship problems and other struggles of daily living.

Volunteers welcome the chance to make a difference in someone’s life. Skills developed in the training are useful in personal and professional circumstances. Listening to others helps volunteers reflect on their own lives and values.

Volunteers must guarantee confidentiality and be willing to provide emotional support to those seeking renewed courage and hope in difficult times. Volunteers are asked to commit to the equivalent of a 4-hour shift every 2 weeks. If you are interested in joining this circle of caring in Peterborough, please contact info@telecarepeterborough.org or go on-line to www.telecarepeterborough.org.
