Youth Serve Up Pancakes

by: Karen Graham

This past Sunday morning, the Youth group led by Liz Shaunessy, Dian Anderson, Cathy MacIntyre and Dave and Carolyn Brackenridge hosted a pancake breakfast for the community. This is a non-denominational group of teens who meet at Centreville Presbyterian Church on the third Sunday of each month for a brief Bible study and social activities. The participants select and plan their activities, which have included bowling, games nights, movie nights and the ever popular baseball games in the summer.

When developing plans for elaborate outings such as last year’s trip to Canada’s Wonderland, the youth include fundraising activities such as last Sunday’s breakfast. Fourteen youth from Bailieboro to Mount Pleasant decorated the hall, prepared and served the meal and cleaned up after it. The meal included regular and strawberry pancakes provided by Pepsi Co., pork sausages, fruit and beverages and of course pure maple syrup, donated by Dave and Carolyn Brackenridge. The weather co-operated and the group served an estimated 90 patrons and raised funds through donations at the door, which will help them organize another outing to wind up their year together.
