Millbrook South Cavan Me 2 We Club: Centennial Place Visits

This year at Millbrook South Cavan Public School, the Me 2 We Club is visiting residents of Centennial Place once a week for a half hour visit. They meet at 9:00 am every Wednesday and come up with a plan for activities to do with the residents. Some days they will do arts and crafts, and other days they will even read to or with the residents. The Me 2 We members are excited to have the opportunity to volunteer at Centennial Place.

Different residents will do the activities with the grade seven and eight students each week and it will be a good thing for both residents and for the students. The students will start their visits Wednesday, February 3rd and will continue visiting the residents every Wednesday until May. The students will grow strong bonds with the residents and have a chance to shed some light and laughter in the building.

Centennial Place employees are more than helpful when it comes to helping the students with working and playing with the residents. Me 2 We is such a wonderful group that helps out with people in need and helping out in our community. The Centennial place visits will help prepare students for volunteering in the future. On Wednesday, January 21st and on Wednesday, January 28th groups went to Centennial Place to be oriented and, some of the workers helped the students to understand the residents and what to do and not to do when it comes to being with the residents. The residents will have many great stories to tell and the students are encouraged to engage in conversation with the residents and for the students to share their stories with the residents.
