Trouble with Turbines

the trouble with turbines (800x590)

Turbines have been erected on the first of three proposed wind projects in the Bethany and Pontypool area, transforming a pastoral rural view

The Turbines are Coming

Pictured is a tranquil agricultural scene traumatized by the erection of an industrial turbine complex. The picture was taken from the dining room table through a home owner’s picture window just west of Bethany on Beer Road. This home was originally part of long term farm operation which was severed to build the present home. The both residents of the home are loath to move because of their attachment to the land. They will move if adverse effects of the industrial turbine complex are too great to bear. The owner lamented about all the destruction caused to the neighbouring farm lands due to the construction process of the industrial turbine complex. Trees were cut down and swaths of roads were built where corn fields used to grow. There are two more wind projects pending in the area around Bethany and Pontypool, with one subject to an appeal on which a decision is expected later this month.

  1. Bernie says:

The trouble is … these monstrosities cost millions, are a blight on the landscape and worse of all never produce enough electricity to pay for themselves let alone give OPG a positive return on our taxpayer based investment.
