Your Community Library is More than Just Books!

Reading is an essential skill and with the many interruptions to schooling and other community resources the CMLibraries will be working hard to support our young patrons. This month we will be hosting workshops for parents/ caregivers on how to get the most out of sharing a book with younger children, as well as offering supplementary materials and activities to assist in increasing their literacy levels. To easily participate in our literacy based programs you can join our Raising Readers Facebook group, request comprehension literacy activities to accompany digital resources from your local branch, as well as enjoy our outdoor self guided story walks available at the Millbrook Branch. Also, our popular book bundles are still available to order by visiting the homepage of our website. Our Kindergarten Readiness group will be starting soon too! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for more information.

Looking for some family activities that take little planning or set up? You can now borrow our weather proof scavenger hunts. We have a fun selection of scavenger hunts that are easy to use and can be used inside or outside. Each scavenger hunt includes 12 clues with fun facts to expand vocabularies and general knowledge, and a clue finding sheet. All you need to do is decide if it is an indoor or outdoor activity and where you will place the clues. Request more details through questions@cmlibraries.ca. Some restrictions may apply.

As always there are more details and activities available in our monthly newsletter, available in print format at your local branch or on our website. For more information follow our Facebook page (cmlibraries.ca) or call your local branch (Bruce Johnston Branch: 705 741 1253, Millbrook Branch 705 932 2919).
