Fresh off the completion of Community Futures Peterborough’s Business Advisory Centre’s Starter Company Plus economic development program, Millbrook resident John Stewart is building on his diverse media training with the launch of his own company he calls Showbile Media.
It’s a visual marketing service for small and medium size businesses. He produces videos which can showcase products, describe a client’s brand, deliver testimonials or educate. These clips can be used in a variety of marketing tools. They can be embedded in email marketing efforts, on websites or social media sites, as background in retail outlets or developed into broad advertising campaigns. He also provides professional quality audio including voiceovers, podcast production and consultation as well as photography.
His interest in media was nurtured at Crestwood where he took a media co-op course not once but twice. There he worked with Cogeco and discovered a love of video. He continued his media training at Niagara College where he completed an Advanced Diploma in Broadcasting which included radio, television and film experience. During his studies he worked as an intern shooting video for the Niagara Ice Dogs OHL team. He has also completed a Digital marketing course by Google. During Covid he had time on his hands and helped a group of friends launch a podcast. He has worked in a variety of industries including sports, tech and education, where he brings their stories to the market through digital media including video, podcasts, live television and radio.
Currently John has a day job with a media firm in Lindsay where he is working on the creation of an educational mini-series for Bell Fibe TV1 where he is exploring the performing arts scene in the Kawartha Lakes region. He has the initiative and energy to pursue both career opportunities at the moment.
While this young entrepreneur may be new to the world of business, he has demonstrated a keen understanding of networking, having made contacts with a local advertising agency, the Chamber of Commerce and the Millbrook Business Improvement Area.
