In May, library patron Mary Murat approached staff at the Cavan Monaghan Libraries with a fundraising idea: hold a “toonie yard sale”.  The decision was made to hold it in the Harry Williams Room at the Millbrook Branch to take advantage of the climate controlled facilities and the wonderful parking lot at the building.  Kimberly Lackie and Melanie Crouch liaised with Mary to organize the advertising and library side of things.

Mary secured all the merchandise – everything was for sale for $2.00! She, with the help of her family, some volunteers and library staff moved everything into the Library space on the Friday afternoon ready for the shoppers on Saturday morning.

After totalling the proceeds for the day, the Murat Family presented the library with a cheque for $801! In conjunction with the yard sale, the CMLibraries had a lemonade stand and continued with the ongoing book sale. The combined total for the day was about $1000 raised.
