WWII Veteran Bill Bellinger with the Banner bearing his Name

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bill Bellinger on October 2nd at PRHC after suffering a stroke.  Bill was a popular visitor at the Millbrook Legion, known for his quick smile, his enthusiasm for life and his dancing skills.  In WWII he served with the 11th Infantry Brigade in the 5th Canadian Armoured Division in Britain and Italy and will be remembered for his service to his country and the energy and positive attitude that became his daily uniform.

Bill shares a laugh with his daughters Linda and Caroline at the unveiling of the Veteran Banner program in Millbrook last month.  A sense of humour seems to be key to the longevity of this 104-year-old veteran.  The ceremony featured bagpipes, speeches and appreciation for members of the Canadian Armed Services.  Fifteen banners are now mounted in Millbrook.  Those wishing to add to that tally are invited to contact the Millbrook Legion or email dwhitehassell@gmail.com before next  year’s deadline of June 1st, 2024.
