Pictured, in the yellow robe, is the Venerable Dayi Shi; the President of the Buddhist Association of Canada and San Francisco. Behind him are visitors from China who were in Cavan recently to see the Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden, being built in Cavan.  The official opening of the newly completed Temple is October 5th. Unfortunately, attendance will be by invitation only, because, of the large number of dignitaries that have been invited for this special occasion.

The significance of the visitor’s being here was; they are from Wutai Mountain in China where the original temple was built, of wood, over a 1000 years ago. The Temple in Cavan is a replica of the Chinese Temple.

The Ven. Dayi Shi held the social gathering at the home of Andrea and Dale Taylor, the former operators of the Heaven on Seven Restaurant in Bethany.

Spokespersons for the Wutai Shan Garden are hopeful to conduct an Open House for the public some time in the future to celebrate the construction of the Temple.
