Who Has the Right of Way at a Roundabout?

Photo Karen Graham.

The rules that determine the right-of-way at a roundabout are very simple: pedestrians crossing the street have the right-of-way, all drivers and cyclists must yield to traffic already in the roundabout, as they have the right-of-way, before entering the intersection. Simple. No different than someone going through an intersection on a green light; pull your vehicle out in front of them and you are in the wrong, potentially causing an accident.
