What’s On at Our Libraries – March 2019

 

Spring is just around the corner, come and see what the CMLibraries has to offer!

Warmer days are within reach, so this month’s Knit it Forward Club’s pattern is a beautiful market bag. Join us Saturday, March 2nd at 10:00am at our Millbrook Branch, or Saturday, March 23rd at 12:00pm at our Bruce Johnston Branch. Starting this project in March will give you just over a month to finish prior to the first Millbrook Farmer’s Market! If you need supplies or are looking to get started as a new knitter, be sure to connect with us in advance. We always welcome new members of all skill levels.

Our Sip and Sew at the Millbrook Branch will be held on Saturday, March 2nd. We will be completing a snood (neck warmer) sewing pattern.  We will walk you through the steps and skills needed to make this versatile pattern. Space is limited so be sure to reserve a spot.

Also, on March 2nd at 12:30pm we will be hosting our first ever French Conversation group. This program is open to all ages and levels. We will be focusing on the theme of ‘Winter’ to allow for a pre-study of vocabulary and verbs. There will also be conversation cue cards available as prompts and to boost confidence of beginner speakers.

We will kick things off with a pop up board game cafe from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Millbrook Branch.  On Saturday, March 9th we will be offering a Hot Chocolate Social and Cupcake Decorating from 11:00am-12:00pm at the Millbrook Branch. Pack your skates or hiking boots and head outside after to enjoy the ice rink (weather dependent) or trails!

A digital drawing tutorial will take place at the Bruce Johnston Branch Tuesday, March 12th at 11:00am. iPads and Apple pencils will be available on a first come first served basis. We will be using Procreate software to complete the tutorial.

Save the date for Crafts with Judi Tuesday, March 12th at 4:00pm Bruce Johnston Branch and Saturday, March 16th at 10:30am at the Millbrook Branch, Judi will be teaching you how to make beautiful kusudama folded flower balls. This project is great for those comfortable using a glue gun. We will have a ‘make your own puzzle’ paper craft available for younger participants.

The amazing Miss Lindsay from Yogagé will be offering a creative movement class for various ages at our Millbrook Branch on Wednesday, March 13th at 2:00pm. Come and let some steam off.

On Thursday, March 14th at the Bruce Johnston Branch we will be setting up some green screen fun, iMovie filming, and Osmo educational games! Enjoy the use of our iPads and travel somewhere wonderful without leaving the comfort of the library! (Do not wear any green if you plan on being in a photo).

Friday, March 15th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Millbrook Branch we will be hosting a Lego building challenge, there will also be Mega Blocks available for younger participants.

Saturday, March 16th enjoy our Escape Room fun at the Millbrook Branch starting at 11:00am.

Our Homeschool Hub will be meeting up on Wednesday, March 13th at 10:00am for presentations on ‘Kitchen Chemistry’.

Come and join our ever growing group of Cyber Seniors (Wednesday, March 20th at 1:00pm, Millbrook Branch) and Ancestry Library Edition researchers (Wednesday, March 20th at 2:00pm, Millbrook Branch). It’s about more than technology, come and socialize!

Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00am we will be making basic tote bags at the Bruce Johnston Branch. Come and make one for yourself, and one to donate to our upcoming ‘Emergent Readers at Home’ club.

Saturday, March 23rd at 1:30pm our Cookbook Club will be serving up recipes based on the theme of “sweet potato” (Bruce Johnston Branch).
