What Comes with a New Year?

Wouldn’t we all like to know the answer to that question?

For the CM Libraries it means changes and growth and improving on what we have been doing.

On December 22nd, after more than 30 years on the job, the CM Libraries said good-bye and happy retirement to Judi Obey. Judi has been the most loyal, dedicated employee – always the first to arrive and the last to leave. Her creativity cannot be matched – paper crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, felting, wood burning – there doesn’t seem to be anything Judi won’t try. It will take us a while to adjust to Judi not being at the Libraries every day. She has promised that she will be back to volunteer after she gets used to being retired.

Other changes that are coming is the installation of the new Library Board. I want to send a huge thank-you to the past Board members for their dedication and support over their term; a huge thank-you to those who applied to become Board members and; a welcome to the new Board. I look forward to working with you for the next four years.

Starting in early January, the CM Libraries will be offering two new e-resources in the Virtual Branch – LinkedIn Learning and CreativeBug. Watch for links on the Libraries’ website. Our Community Threads group, on January 21st, will get an introduction to CreativeBug.

Movie night is now the 2nd Tuesday of the month – which will be January 10th. We will be showing “Don’t worry, darling” starring Florence Pugh, Harry Styles and Chris Pine.

Something new we are going to try: Chess @ the Millbrook Branch. From 4-6pm on Tuesdays (starting January 17th). Bring a board and a friend. This was requested by a community member who is interested in playing chess with real people.

Courtney will still be hosting Sensory Bins for pre-schoolers on Wednesdays, and story times on Thursdays and Fridays. Times and locations are listed in our newsletter. Please check the newsletter for more details about all of our programs.
