Oasis Boutique owner Nancy Fallis is becoming more discriminating in choosing the clothing line selection she offers at the store.  No longer satisfied to offer stylish, reasonably-priced women’s clothing and accessories, she is striving to streamline her product lines to focus on those produced in Canada or at least under working conditions Canadians would endorse.

One new line of clothing comes with the additional benefit of being particularly environmentally-friendly; the fabric content is 88% recycled polyester.  Not the polyester of the 1960’s variety- we’re talking plastic bottles.  Called rPet, the fabric is made from post-consumer waste and plastic bottles diverted from landfills, which are shredded and spun into filament yard and blended with 12% spandex to create stretchy, stylish active wear items including leggings, capris and shorts.  Wicking and antibacterial features are achieved with the use of an all-natural treatment based on post-consumer shells which allows the fabric to remain fresh and odour resistant without the use of chemicals.

Combining a love of yoga, the natural beauty of her rural British Columbia and a collection of paintings, drawings and sketches by her mother discovered after her death, Julianna —- developed her original active wear clothing line.

Under the brand No-Mi No-U, the founder focused on producing a line of leisure wear bearing distinctive graphics resulting in items that are “wearable art”.  The distinctive patterns on the clothing are adaptations of original art by the Juliann’s late mother as well as other collaborating artists.

The line also includes tanks and pullovers made of bamboo, cotton and spandex.

Imagine feeling good after stretching and sweating in style not just because you did something good for your body, but also for the environment: each pair of No-Mi No-U pants removes seven plastic water bottles from the environment.  You’ll feel you’re making a difference before you even break a sweat.
