Baughn Deleff is the Operations Manager for a new retail venture in Fraserville offering a wide range of garden supplies and related products to service the rekindled interest in gardening.
The traditional red brick centre-hall plan home in Fraserville is the new home of Victory Garden Supply. The company itself is not new- it has been operating as a wholesaler in Peterborough, servicing the commercial horticultural industry since 2012. The beginnings were humble. Operating out of a mini-van, owner Dave Earle serviced growers by consolidating their orders and dropping off their supplies in the van. Being a farmer in Bailieboro, he understood growers’ needs and carved out a niche to better serve the local market.
The burgeoning interest in gardening sparked by the pandemic inspired Earle to extend the business into the retail sector. In May, the Fraserville property at 1264 County Rd. 28 was purchased, and an existing garage is currently being converted into a retail outlet while the home is being used for offices. The traditional, redbrick centre hall plan home now houses offices for the business.
The plans for the retail operation include an extensive product list. New products are arriving daily, and include soil and soil amendments, fertilizer, pots and planters, irrigation supplies and bird feed and accessories. Garden tools and carts are also available as well as garden equipment rentals for items including small loaders, excavators and augers.
The retail outlet is being managed by Baughn Deleff who joins Earle after a career in sporting goods where he was well-known in the skate board industry. He is excited by the new opportunity and sees the retail horticulture supply industry as a growing one.
It will be a few weeks until the retail shop conversion is complete, but Deleff is ready to show visitors around and load a few bags of soil or fertilizer into customers’ cars six days a week. For more information, drop into the store or visit www.victorygardensupply.ca. KG
