Two Farmers’ Markets in August

It’s harvest time!  This season’s crop of fresh, delicious produce is ready for the picking.  Fresh greens, new potatoes, sweet corn, juicy ripe tomatoes, sun-kissed berries,  succulent squash – you’ll it all and much more at the Millbrook Farmers’ Market.

This year, we are running two markets each during the prime harvest months of July, August and September.  In August, the dates to circle on your calendar are Sunday, August 13th and Sunday, August 27th.

In addition to freshly picked vegetables, we have a full platter of locally raised and prepared foods – beef, chicken, pork and lamb, deli meats, goat cheese, farm-fresh eggs, baked goods, preserves, honey, maple syrup, fruit, wine, flowers/plants and treats for your furry friends.  New this year are a number of very talented, local craftspersons selling their wares.

On the entertainment front, old-time folk roots band Cellar Door will be performing on August 13th, with Millbrook’s own Jeff Brackett.  On August 27th, honky-tonk songstress Winona Wilde (a.k.a. Noosa Al-Saraj) returns with her quirky, soulful originals and brand new album to share.  A big thank you goes out to our local music sponsor Kathie Lycett, Re/Max Realty Inc.

The Millbrook Library’s famous book sale will be on during both markets, while the StoryTree for Kids will continue to run on their monthly schedule, the next one happening on Sunday, August 27th.   Local favourite Bill Slavin will be the guest reader.

The market runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Old Millbrook School, 1 Dufferin Street, rain or shine.  Come out and support our local farm businesses and entrepreneurs.  For more information, visit our website at www.millbrookfarmersmarket.weebly.com.
