Township Receives the Second Quarter Payment from OLG

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) issued a second-quarter (July1 to September 30, 2019) non-tax gaming revenue payment of $136,234 to the Township of Cavan Monaghan last week for hosting Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs.  The City of Peterborough also received their share of revenue from the Peterborough Shorelines location totalling $866,935 for that same period.  This payment brings the city’s total revenue for the first year of casino operations to $3.1 million.

These revenues generated through local gaming facilities flow through the budgets of their host municipalities and contribute to infrastructure projects and community programs and services for the host communities.

These payments are made under an equitable formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that determines the funds municipalities receive for hosting a gaming facility and are based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue that is consistent across all sites in Ontario.

Through a variety of gaming entertainment activities including lotteries, bingo, slots and electronic gaming products, OLG generates the largest source of non-tax revenue to the provincial government.  In 2018-2019, this amounted to $2.47 billion. KG
