Township Council Seeks Input on Proposed Community Centre

The Township of Cavan Monaghan is seeking public input from their residents on a proposed new Community Centre for the municipality.

Recently, Council and Staff hosted two public meetings at the Township Office to hear from its residents. The Township continues to encourage residents to come and present their thoughts and visions for a new Community Centre. “Turnout has been positive with a lot of good dialogue and input from the community, however more is needed” says Mayor Scott McFadden. “This represents a significant investment for the Township and community input is imperative.”

In October 2014, the Township hired The RETHINK GROUP, a Leisure Services Planning and Management Group, to conduct an Arena/Community Centre Needs Feasibility Assessment Study, which looked at both facility and site requirements. In addition, Council directed staff to conduct a Financial Impact Review of a Community Centre, in order to facilitate a more informed decision. All material relating to the topic of the Community Centre are available for review either on our website at www.cavanmonaghan.net or at the Township Office.

The Township will be hosting two more public meetings on May 2nd, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 p.m. at the Township Office 988 County Road 10, Millbrook, ON L0A 1G0. Residents who are unable to attend the public meetings are encouraged to e-mail their comments to their local Councillor or the Clerk’s Department at earthurs@cavanmonaghan.net.
