Back by popular demand, the fairgrounds on Frederick Street will once again be showcasing vehicles of all shapes and sizes, including police and paramedic vehicles, Fire trucks, UTV’s, race cars, farm vehicles and cranes. Youngsters take full advantage of the opportunity to get up close and personal with emergency vehicles and imposing equipment, clamouring aboard, taking the wheel and sounding horns and sirens to great delight.
This popular, family-friendly event is organized by the Millbrook/Cavan Firefighters’ Association in partnership with the Millbrook Agricultural Society. The event runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, September 14th, with the first hour of the show featuring a quiet period for those who prefer a peaceful stroll through the grounds. At 11 am, the working vehicles will begin to make themselves heard, with horns and sirens sounded by enthusiastic visitors. Admission to the event is by donation.
The event is supported by a wide range of organizations who provide the vehicles on display, including Cavan Monaghan Township and Fire Department, Peterborough County Roads Department, Peterborough Paramedics, Peterborough Police, Squirrel Creek Farms, Wuis Brothers, Eagleson Excavating and many more.
Proceeds from the event fund good causes in the community. This year they will support breakfast programs at North Cavan and Millbrook South Cavan Public School. Last year, organizers dedicated the event to the late Captain Orville Thertell, who in addition to serving with the association for more than thirty years, was a huge supporter of the community as a Lion, a Millbrook Agricultural Society volunteer and as someone you could call on day or night to help in an emergency.
Join members of the Millbrook Cavan Firefighters Association and the Millbrook Agricultural Society as they bring you the opportunity to get a close inspection of a variety of vehicles large and small that help keep us safe in times of emergency, help our neighbours grow crops and our contractors build homes and facilities in our community.
