In September, Pastry Peddler Baker, Brad Katz’s Whiskey-infused butter tart called Saloon took top prize at the taste-off at Port Hope’s Cultivate Festival. Competing against 20 of the best butter tart bakers in Northumberland and the Kawarthas, the confection features candied pecans, chocolate ganache drizzle, and a rich, butter, whiskey-infused filling. Besides the trophy, the best part of the event was beating the local Queen of Tarts, Doo Doo’s Diane Rogers.
