This Month at Our Libraries – December 2019

The Holidays are almost here and the library has lots of festive cheer!

With the rush of the holidays, it can sometimes feel like there is less time to read. We have a solution for you…audiobooks and e-books. Audiobooks are great for travelling over the holidays, or to add some entertainment while running errands, crafting, or baking. Join us on Wednesday, December 4th at 11:00am to learn the basics of how to access the e-books and audio books that we offer. We recommend that you bring the device that you plan on using (phone or tablet). Also note that if this time does not work for you, please call your closest branch and schedule a time to connect with a staff member in relation to downloadable content.

We are starting a Wild Things Playgroup – where Shhh! doesn’t happen. We will have a variety of S.T.E.M activities available for the 0-4 age group at the Millbrook Branch. These activities will help children to develop important milestones and master a variety of skills. Parents can socialize, connect with other parents/caregivers and guide their littles through the activities. A story circle will take place in the children’s book area in the main room for those interested, while all others activities will take place in the Harry William’s room.

Slow down over the holidays and join us for weekly meditation and mindfulness workshops. Shelly, from Inspired by Nature, will be at the Millbrook Branch every Thursday in December from 2pm-3pm to guide you through meditation and mindfulness practices. There will also be a focus on journaling, finding some Zen during this busy season and setting intentions for 2020.

We invite you to take respite from the ‘busy’ on Tuesday, December 24th from 10am – 2pm. We will be offering a quiet and calm space with festive refreshments.

Please note, the library will be closed briefly over the holidays and resume regular hours Thursday, January 2nd.
