Last week local elementary schools held their annual Terry Fox fundraising event. Retired teacher Mark Hamel returned to supervise the 20th Terry Fox run at North Cavan. During the warm up session prior to the race, students sang songs and danced to the music in anticipation of their run through the school grounds with their classmates. The school of 207 students also learned the final tally in their fundraising efforts and were delighted to learn that they raised $5,540 this year, representing a 62% increase over last year’s results, and very close to Millbrook South Cavan’s total raise of $5,690. Time for a little friendly competition?
