The Conclusion of our Seniors Community Grant and Welcome to Summer!

Before jumping into the family programming that we will be offering this summer, I would like  to thank everyone who participated in our Seniors Community Grant.

We have had an overwhelming amount of support from our patrons and community members which has allowed us to put together our final book: Collecting our Stories. Our Book Launch will be on Wednesday, July 31st from 1:00-3:00pm at our Millbrook Branch. Everyone is welcome to attend and a special invitation to all who participated in our grant (whether that be volunteers, participants, and/or their families) to join us for light refreshments. We look forward to getting together for one final session to celebrate the collection of our stories.

With summer finally here, it’s the perfect time to dive into our engaging and diverse family programs!  Join us for “Jungle(ish) July” and “All About Bugs August”. Each day will have a couple of exciting activities. For more details on weekly themes and specific activities, please refer to our summer schedule that will be on our website and in the upcoming newsletter. All the fun starts on July 2nd!

Here’s a glimpse of what’s in store – keep this list handy so don’t miss any of our exciting activities:

I would like to highlight two activities that we will be hosting. On Thursday, July 11th from 10:30-11:30am, please join us at the Bruce Johnston Branch for Critter Visits! Stop by to see and pet a variety of farm animals. If you cannot make it in July, not to worry! We will also be welcoming Critter Visits to our Millbrook Branch on Friday, August 23rd from 10:30-11:30am. This program will take place outside, there may be a bit of a wait to see the animals but it will be worth it.

We will be continuing our Tween/Teen programming throughout the summer. On Tuesday, July 9th from 4:30-5:30pm, join us at our Bruce Johnston Branch for a Rebound (Kangaroo Jump Shoes) Class, hosted by Caroline from Springenfit! As our theme for July seems to be movement and activity, we will also be having a Hatha Yoga Class taught by Bonnie Carl on Tuesday, July 30th from 4:30-5:30pm at our Bruce Johnston Branch. Pre-registration for both activities is required.

Although some of our Adult Programs are on pause for the summer, we will be continuing our Knotty Knitters in July and August. Drop in anytime between 3:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, July 23rd to work on your crafty project and socialize with like-minded individuals. We will also be continuing our Toonie Tuesday Movie at the Millbrook Branch on July 9th at 6:30pm. We will be watching The Creator, a futuristic movie about a war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence.
