The City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team celebrated its fifth year during which they have brought new health care professionals and health programs for patients in our area including nurse practitioners, family health nurses, medical receptionists, clinical social workers, a psychologist, pharmacist, registered dietitian, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist and a foot care specialist. These professionals work in collaboration with local family doctors to increase care and reduce wait times. Originally beginning with 16 staff, today the team boasts more than 35 health professionals serving more than 35,000 patients at clinical sites in Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay, Little Britain, Omemee and soon Woodville and have enrolled more than 4,000 new patients, according to Executive Director, Mike Perry, who has been the team’s Executive Director since it began. To get a family doctor with the team, residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes must call and register with Health Care Connect: 1.800.445.1822 or call the family health team’s main office at 705-880-2020.
