Taking DIY Craft Workshops to a Whole New Level

Yolanda Aubut supervises a customer creating a painted sign destined for the Christmas tree of a lucky recipient. This was the customer’s 9th workshop.

Yolanda Aubut has standards, and so will you when you attend one of her workshops where participants create custom wooden signs, pillows, holiday urns and other décor items.  No cringe-creating items leave her place of business.

This cottage business was launched after a disappointing result at a painting workshop where the paint on her creation bled through, resulting in an unprofessional product.  Yolanda knew it could be done better, and after some experimenting, she found a technique that resulted in crisp, clean paint edges worthy of display.

It’s not the first time Yolanda has taken on a production problem.  In response to a stream of frustrated customers dealing with a faulty wheel part for a former employer, with an engineer’s patience, she developed and patented a replacement part to eliminate the problem.

Walking through the door of her workshop on Larmer Line feels like entering a Pinterest image designed by Fixer Upper’s Joanna Gaines.  Adorned with ship-lapped walls, floating shelves, a rustic, live-edge bar and industrial-style pipe brackets, stools and light fixtures,  on cool days the wood-burning stove ads warmth and a seasonal aroma to the venue.

For this entrepreneur, one of the most rewarding aspects of this business is the appreciation of the customers.  Many are amazed at the quality of their creations and feel empowered by the beauty of their home made décor projects.

This time of year, the focus is on holiday décor created at workshops and private parties.  During the summer months, wedding items are in demand.

With thirteen workshops scheduled before Christmas, there is still time to sign up to make some personalized gifts for this season.  To learn more about this business, visit their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/madewithlovebyyou or contact Yolanda at madewithlovebyyou@gmail.com or call (705) 761-5867.  KG
