Sweet New Bakeshop Offers Spectacular Sweets and Classes for Young and Old

Photo supplied. Amanda Mitchell supervised the work of participants in her cupcake decorating class last month held at Champion’s Restaurant in Bethany.

Amanda Mitchell moved to Bethany with her husband last April and continued her four-year-old company called Sprinkles and Things in her new home.

On November 20, Amanda led a workshop for six children where they decorated cupcakes. The class also included pizza which was washed down with a children’s favourite, chocolate milk. The class was held at Champions Restaurant in Bethany and of course the pizza came from the same. The children came from Peterborough, Courtice, Pontypool and Bethany, demonstrating Amanda’s popularity in the far flung region. Amanda has previously held classes for decorating a gingerbread house and cooking classes for adults.

Class participants were encouraged to bring items for the Bethany/Pontypool food bank, which has been a custom for Amanda at her other classes. There will be a draw later and one lucky child will win a prize.  Everyone is welcome to drop by her establishment located at 1482 Hwy 7A in Bethany, next door to the IDA Drug Mart, from 9 am to 9 pm with your food bank donations. Leave your donation inside with your name and phone number, and if you win, Amanda will call you.

Amanda also offers custom cakes, brownies, cheesecakes and cookies as well as several DIY options for those who would like to participate in their sweet creations.

Amanda’s next class is called, “Decorating Cupcakes for Christmas with Amanda.”  The class will be limited to 15 participants and it will be, first come first served. To avoid disappointment, call early at 905-439-6244 or you can reach her by email at mitchell791@hotmail.com.

Sprinkles ‘n Things is a welcome asset to the downtown business section of Bethany. For more information about Amanda’s delectable delights, visit her Facebook page Sprinkles n Things.
