Summer Library Events

There’s a lot going on this month at your local libraries and the events are not just about books.

On August 4th, work on your needle skills with another session of Knit it Forward at the Millbrook branch.  This month the group will be tackling a knit headband, with patterns ranging from easy peasy to cables galore!  Everyone from complete beginners to the experienced are invited to come. Knit one for fun and one to donate to the library Holiday Craft Sale to support the CM Libraries.  Check out their Facebook Group Page to see their latest projects, get help with patterns and see what’s coming up!  Some supplies are available, sign up to reserve a pair of needles and yarn. The one hour session runs from 11 am until noon.

After the long weekend, join Judi for a Notan Art Craft session, exploring the balance between light and dark in this beautiful papercraft.  This drop-in craft session runs on Tuesday, August 7th at 4 pm at the Bruce Johnson branch and on Saturday, August 11th at 10:30 am at the Millbrook branch.

Also on August 7th, the Millbrook branch will host their Toonie Movie starting at 6:30pm, showing The Leisure Seekers.  The film stars Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren and two-time Golden Globe-winner Donald Sutherland as a runaway couple going on an unforgettable journey in the faithful old RV they call The Leisure Seeker, traveling from Boston to The Ernest Hemingway Home in Key West.

The following day, come to the Millbrook branch at 11 am with your own T-shirt to create an original graphic silk screen with Skye.

Explore a different kind of creativity with the Libraries’ easiest and tastiest group:  The Cookbook Club! that meets at the Bruce Johnston Branch at 1 pm on August 11th.  Grab a cookbook from the library, choose a recipe to prepare, and then bring your item to our tasty potluck meeting. If you love flipping through glossy pages of cookbooks and trying out new recipes, this potluck based group is a must join! We will discuss all the books used (would you recommend it, were there many good recipes, how was the format, any good tips or tricks in the book?). Bon Appétit!

The summer reading program wraps up on Saturday August 25th at 11 am at the Millbrook branch.  Come to their End of Summer Party to celebrate all your hard work and learning!
