Summer Company Program Open for Applications for Youth Entrepreneurs

Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre is now accepting applications for the Summer Company program.

Summer Company is the Government of Ontario’s flagship youth entrepreneurship program that connects students ages 15-29 with training, mentorship and funding to start a summer business. This year, seven grants up to $3000 are available for young aspiring business owners between the ages of 15-29 from the City and County of Peterborough.

Peterborough & the Kawartha’s Business Advisory Centre delivers the Summer Company program locally, and helps students navigate the environment as new small business owners. Throughout the summer, students have the opportunity to take part in workshops and training, covering such topics as: mastering social media; marketing and sales; managing business risk; and networking.

“We are proud to be once again delivering the Summer Company program for area youth,” stated Peterborough & the Kawartha’s Economic Development’s Director of Business Development, Suzanne McCrimmon, “This program allows students to test the waters of entrepreneurship in a supportive environment that provides opportunities for experiential learning, mentorship and funding.”

The deadline for applications is May 19, 2019. Aspiring young entrepreneurs are encouraged to connect with the Business Advisory Centre to learn more about the application process. Those interested in learning more about the program and how to get involved are encouraged to visit www.peterboroughed.ca/summer or contact Adam Edwards at 705-743-0777 ext. 2118.
