Stay Positive

I often hear that readers like the Millbrook Times because it tells only positive stories. That is intentional. It’s not that I am oblivious to the negative side of life- in fact my husband accuses me of having a half-empty perspective. In the paper I choose to focus on positive things and it’s never hard to find them. It helps to follow the advice to focus on what you can change instead of worrying about what you can’t.

One of the things we can control is our attitude. When our children attended Millbrook South Cavan Public School many years ago, they were reminded of the importance of attitude by their Grade 8 teacher, Rhonda Fallis. As she prepared her grade eight students for the challenges of high school, she made the point that the attitude students bring to the table is the most important factor in determining their success. It is also a critical ingredient to mental health. We can’t establish world peace or resolve the conflicts abroad, but we can make a difference in our community by finding ways to nurture our sanity, our civility and our support for our neighbours
