Downtown Millbrook was transformed into a seaside town for
the latest film shoot for the third series of the popular Prime Video series, Reacher. Locals were disappointed that the lobster fest wasn’t real, but the graciousness of the series star Alan Ritchson more than made up for it.

Last week downtown Millbrook was transformed into a small seaside town in New England called Whispering Pines, for the filming of an episode for Season Three of the Prime video series, Reacher.
Based on action novels of Lee Child, Season Three is based on the novel “Persuader” and follows Jack Reacher in another fight for justice. The former military policeman brings exceptional brains and brawn to the task of solving crimes and delivering his own version of justice in this action crime series.
The series has received both popular and critical acclaim and catapulted the lead actor, Alan Ritchson, into Hollywood stratosphere. In this role he usually resolves conflict physically in larger than life fight scenes, but the actor is equally at home portraying a sensitive family man in the faith-based heartbreaking tale in the movie Ordinary Angels.

You would expect a star with this kind of following to be surrounded by security detail to keep the clamouring fans at bay. Ritchson is not that kind of star.
During a pause in filming last Wednesday afternoon, Ritchson casually sauntered up to onlookers at the corner of Tupper and King. His smile was genuine and his conversation was relaxed and personal. As people realized the star was willing to have his photo taken, in true Canadian style they formed a queue and patiently waited their turn. Ritchson spoke to each group, making personal comments, particularly with the youngsters. Photos were taken, autographs signed, jokes were made. It was all a bit surreal.
Jack Reacher is a loner and a drifter, who seems to have trouble connecting with people. Alan Ritchson is a not that kind of man. Last week his action boosted his local fan base with residents attracted not by his physical attributes but by his genuine interest in people, driven by a Christian faith, a steadfast commitment to his family and his daily struggle with mental health. While you may not be a Reacher fan, it’s hard not to be an Alan Ritchson fan. KG
