Sport Activities Resume at the Old Arena

There are plenty of youngsters kicking around the old arena.

The former rink is back in action, with approximately 450 soccer players from Maple Leaf Cavan FC training in the facility 30 hours a week.  Players aged 5 to adults are working on the skills during evenings and weekends, playing the game they love.

After a shortened 2021 season that was late to begin due to COVID, the numbers in this indoor program clearly demonstrate that these players all missed the game and are happy to be back at it.  The eight week fall session will wrap up on December 18th, and after a holiday break will resume for a second eight-week session on January 9, 2022.

Players interested in joining the club’s indoor action in the New Year are invited to visit the club website at www.mlcfcsoccer.com send your questions to Angela Penello at compteitive@mlcfcsoccer.com.

The New Year will also see a return of Peterborough’s Timbermen games, whose home games will take place at the Millbrook arena.  This Arena Lacrosse League team (ALL) is an amateur winter indoor Development lacrosse league with teams based in Ontario, Canada. The ALL plays under professional rules including net size and players are 18 years of age and older.   Their objective is to provide a high level development league for players with pro ambitions.

Their first of their seven home game is scheduled for Saturday, January 8th at 4pm.  For more information about this team, visit their website at www.peterboroughtimbermen.com.  KG
