So Much to do at the CMLibraries

By Courtney Spence

Although February is a short month, the CMLibraries has a lot going on as we start to winddown from our Seniors Community Grant. We continue to offer Crafty Chats in the Stacks, a program open to all ages on Wednesdays from 10:15am-12:15pm at our Millbrook Branch. In February, we will be hosting a Valentine’s Day Brunch, a Crochet Circle, and a Macrame Keychain Workshop. *Pre-registration is required to ensure that we have enough supplies. Please visit our website cmlibraries.ca for more information.*

To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, join Erin at our Millbrook Branch on Saturday, February 14th to make a delicious treat and participate in a Valentine’s Day craft. There will be two sessions (10:30-11:00am OR 11:30am-12:00pm). *Registration is required.*

On Wednesday, February 18th, Sandra Dee Hicks (Sandra Dee’s Consulting For Seniors and Family) will be coming to our Millbrook Branch from1:00-3:00pm for an interactive workshop to help older adults learn how to stay safe, connected, and prepared as they age. Participants will explore different retirement living and care options (aging at home, retirement residences, long-term care), learn practical home safety and wellness tips, create a simple “Plan in Place” to be prepared for unexpected situations, and more. *Lunch will be provided.*

Looking for a place to meet new people or socialize with people that you already know? Join us on the second Wednesday of the month to enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea) and chat about “this, that, and the other thing.” Coffee & Conversation will be meeting at our Millbrook Branch on Wednesday, February 11thfrom 1:00-3:00pm. We will be chatting about the benefits of positive thinking. Does it work?

For Creative Crafters this month, Lynn (Plexus Brand Ambassador) will be showing us how to make protein balls. We will be making two different recipes with a variety of ingredients, including almond butter and coconut oil/flakes. Participants will be divided into small groups so that everyone is able to help make one protein ball recipe. Participants will get to bring the leftovers home. We will be meeting at our Millbrook Branch on Friday, February 27th from 2:00-4:00pm.

During the months of February and March, both branches of the CMLibraries will be collecting donations for One City Peterborough. “One City Peterborough is an organization that believes that everyone belongs and that together we flourish. To that end, we focus on supporting those who have experienced homelessness and/or criminalization towards their full inclusion into the community.” An Ongoing Wishlist will be pro-vided at both of our branches. To ensure that we are helping to the best of our abilities, please only donate items that are on the Wishlist.
